
Hebei University of Technology (HUT)
As a key university in Hebei Province and also one of the 100 key universities under the national "Project 211", Hebei University of Technology ( HUT ) is a multi-disciplinary university, with technology as its main focus and science, economics, management, arts and law developing in a well-balanced way. The present university grew out of the original institution, Beiyang Technological School, established in 1903. In the one hundred-year history, Hebei University of Technology experienced several changes in names: Hebei Provincial Technical Institute; Tianjin Institute of Technology and Hebei Institute of Technology. In 1995 the new name Hebei University of Technology began to be used.
With its main campus in Tianjin City and its branch school in Langfang City, the university now has the following sixteen schools: School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Management, School of Material Science, School of Civil Engineering, School of Architecture and Artistic Design, School of Energy and Environmental Science, School of Electrical Engineering, School ofInformation, School of Chemical Engineering, School of Sciences, School of Foreign Languages, School of Computer Science and Software, School of Humanities and Law, School of Continuing Education, the Graduate School and the City School.
The university has more than 30,000 full-time students, including 1,500 master and PhD candidates. There are 57 undergraduate programs, 55 master's degree programs, 17 doctor's degree programs, 4 post-doctorate research stations, 2 national key programs, 15 provincial key programs, and 12 master's degree programs of engineering as well as MBA program.
In addition to 2 special professor positions and Changjiang Scholar Appraise Plan, HUT has 601 professors and associate professors, which helps HUT excels in teaching. HUT has been strict in teaching and management and pioneered in the concept of studying combined with working; the first university-run factory was started buy the former HUT. In the period of one hundred year history, the university thinks highly of students quality education, especially in engineering practice and creative ability and collectivism. In addition to teaching and scientific research, international exchange and cooperation are also the main focus of the university. So far the university has more than 25 partner universities in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Japan.
Hebei University of Technology
(HUT), one of the oldest Chinese universities, is located in the city of Tianjin
with a population of about 9 million, the third largest city in China. Located
about 120 kilometers away from Beijing, the capital, it can be reached either by
car or by train which runs every hour in either direction. Construction on a
light rail train between Beijing and Tianjin will start soon, thereby shortening
the travel time by half, to 30 minutes. Tianjin City, near the Bohai Sea, is
rich in seafood products that are comparatively cheaper that those in Beijing or
elsewhere. Tianjin is within easy reach of many places of interests and resorts,
such as the Beidaihe Sea Resort, Panshan Mountain, Dongling and Dingling
imperial tombs.
