Title: a school from Hell, in Kunming

My nightmare at the Kunming Caleson Foreign Language English School. If you want to be cheated, lied to, and treated like a slave, this is the school for you. If you sign a contract, beware, Jenny the principal is the sole arbritrator of who and how the contract has been broken. There is a $3000 yuan penalty for breaking the contract and only SHE decides. Can you spell corruption?
On average, the Chinese teachers at the school last 2 months before quitting, some foreigner teachers last longer.
Kunming is a great city and the cost of living is very low compared to Canada, but be very careful of some of the private schools.

Title: Salary is not the most important factor

I list this suggestion under "Salary" because salary is not the most important factor when selecting a teaching job in China. Living conditions are far more important.
I have been working in China for most of the past five years, in nine different cities. Recently I signed a two year contract here at YAU (Yunnan Agricultural University) because my living conditions here are excellent. My apartment is great; the weather is the best in China, and the school administrators do not look over your shoulder every minute.
Here I make 3,200rmb per month. In Shanghai I made 6,000; in Beijing I made 5,500, in Wuhan I made 9,000, in Nanning 5,000. However, my life here is much better than in any of those cities.
