Aipusen, formally called 'Options' was an OK organization to work for when I was there 5 years ago. Ideally, it is a good school for new teachers, but certainly is not for most teachers with valid certification or experience.

Aipusen pushes you to the point where you no longer want to work for the company, and end up quitting, a move that is definitly done to make sure they make money on you, and not pay you the money you are owed. It has also been reported resently that Aipusen has blatantly broken contract, by not accepting 30 days notice of resignation

Do not work for this school. They will offer you big wages but you will be working illegally on a tourist visa or an F visa and later when you come to either leave China or move to another school you will face a big fine. They will try to avoid giving you a contract and be late paying wages. The wages may also reduce for an unknown reason. This is a crooked outfit and should be put out of business.

Having had classes of 60 in a government school however, we have been pleased have class sizes of 20 or less.

In less than a month, they told me that they prefer "White", and since my English was good enough for them, they would only pay me to the highest scale no more than RMB 3000 that a Chinese teacher would get, and they would like me to do some administrative work also, to which I refused. At the end, they paid me only a little more than 1000 for the hours I had taught at little more than 46.00 per period. Nothing for the overseas and domestic traveling expenses. I didn't have any place to go for all these unfair treatment.

I taught at EF ZHUHAI for a few terrible months and I recommend that you go nowhere near it - ever!
When I was there they were in grave financial difficulties and were cost cutting all over the place. By "cost-cutting" I mean that they stopped providing us with adequate photocopying budgets, teaching resources, markers, etc. I left because they could no longer honour the accommodation clause in my contract. It was an absolute joke. Three teachers out of five left on the same day and the two remaining were only there because they couldn¡ät afford to leave. I¡äm an experienced school English teacher and I¡äve never seen an unhappier staffroom in my life.

Fountain School in Zhuhai should be avoided at all costs. Since November - in a little over two months - the principle and the DoS have purged the school of all its teachers - each one experienced, qualified, and professional. During this time, the school has constantly tried to hold money back from teachers, and has used every opportunity to use the contract against them.

Pay is terrible, hours are terrible, administration is even more terrible and, frankly, it stinks.
You need to be careful because they constantly change the work hours and the salary terms without warning. Just my 2 cents.

When I got up to see what was going on, I found all of the school administrators in the girls apartment. The word was the 18 year old girl had gotten drunk and was assualted by a fellow male student. The food was so bad that most of the time, I ate out. I'm not a disgruntled employee as I was assigned to teach the beginner students as well as the most advanced. I urge all parents to avoid this place at all cost.

TPR is by no means perfect. It has many flaws. But it also has many dedicated teachers who offer a world of help to newcomers who are interested enough to take the help. However, we do not see "help" as supplying a disinterested teacher with last-minute filler activities in lieu of a lesson plan or even a passing interest or affection for the children.

Our Chinese visas issued in Hong Kong, which we believed to be three-month, were long expired ¨C Peter obtained only five-day ones to Shen Zhen Special Economic Zone, not to the mainland China (!). We can only believe that it must have been partially because of the new Chinese foreign policy and thanks to the school¡¯s president that finally we were not fined. But it turned out that there is no possibility for us to stay in China any longer ¨C we had to leave immediately. Thankfully the president eventually managed to obtain visas prolongation and we were given another two weeks to prepare to leave China. Our days in Yang Jiang were over.
