A great city and great school
I've been in Beihai, Guangxi Province for a few months now and am really happy. It's a wonderful city. It's cleaner and much friendlier than most Chinese cities and has the added advantages of a great climate and a clean, beautiful beach. I'm working in LTC, which teaches adults, children and kindergarten. Having worked in many other schools and countries (including South Korea - so I know the all the pittfalls) I can safely say that LTC has a great work environment. The director is definitely the friendliest and most honest I've ever worked for. There aren't many foreigners living here but the locals are very friendly and I can't see myself feeling lonely at all. If you like the sound of Beihai look further down the list and you'll find a couple of other teachers who have written in over the years. Kevin wrote about a year ago saying how much he'd love to stay if he could - well, he did. He's still here, still planning to leave but just can't seem to do it. At first I had planned to go to Shanghai but I'm really glad now that I didn't head to the biggest city in the world's most polluted country. If you want to know more about Beihai and life here drop me a line. If you do write to me, mention ESLCAFE in the e-mail title so I don't delete it thinking it's junk mail.
