No money.
When I told some old EFL hands in Korea that I was going to give China a shot, I noticed people exchanging significant looks and heard one or two nervous chuckles and low whistles. Everyone advised me against it. They were right.

China is OK for a year, but they're too cheap to pay decent salaries. You won't make any money here and let's face it, money is important. The Chinese New year is coming up and my school has given me a 1000RMB 'Travel Bonus' (about 100US bucks). Look forward to seeing me at Raffles in Singapore where I'll be spending a week at their finest suite. Or maybe not.

At least in Korea, with some privates, I could make $2500 a month US. Here I make about a fifth of that. I'm tired of hearing about how poor China is. If it's so poor, why does my boss drive a Merc?

Nah, folks. China is OK, but there are better pickings elsewhere.
