| Stay away from Aipusen in Guangzhou | ||
| First let me say, this is an account of the current situation working for Aipusen institute in Guangzhou. There are quite a few areas of problem, but I will briefly outline a few main points. THE CONTRACT- Aipusen sent me a copy of a contract, after reading and understanding it, I promptly sent it back. Upon arrival, I was asked to sign another contract, which included giving "deposits" and "bonds" for things that weren't mentioned in the first contract, and the company ends up taking a large chunk of your first few pay checks, only to guarntee they will return this money, your flight money, and any bonuses at the end of your contract. Many teachers see this as a good way to get a large "payout" at the end of your contract, but then Aipusen pushes you to the point where you no longer want to work for the company, and end up quitting, a move that is definitly done to make sure they make money on you, and not pay you the money you are owed. It has also been reported resently that Aipusen has blatantly broken contract, by not accepting 30 days notice of resignation..something that is clearly stated in the contract, when trying to give notice of resignation they have been known to not accept it, and tell you to vacate there apartment within a few days, leaving you with no where to go. THE JOB - Aipusen does offer a very easy to teach curriculim, and materials, but they often require you to make supporting material(colour lots of picture cards, make things for events etc.) these materials must be made by the teachers, deadlines are given with little notice, and materials must be made and handed in or the teacher gets "fined" money which they take from your pay check, a very poor business philosphy, which only makes their teachers angry and vindictive. Your schedule at Aipusen will be made of schools scatered across the city, leaving you a lot of travel time, at your own expense, and having to constantly move around for only a few hours worth of work. THE ACCMODATION - Aipusen does provide you with accmodation, which is not very well furnished, and in a poor state as many things are broken,(bathroom fixtures, kitchen cupboards etc.) when you ask them to fix it, they will promptly agree, and never do anything about it, waiting for you to get so botherd by it, that you end up finding a way to fix it yourself. TEACHERS LEAVING- In September 2003 Aipusen hired 40 teachers, and after only one semester there is or will be less than 50% of those teachers around, as many have quit, or resigned due to poor management, unfair treatment, and generally a lack of happines working for Aipusen. Aipusen will say that they have teachers who have been with them for years..which is true, but these teachers often have very few problems that new teachers face, as they have the signority and experience, so they are not botherd as much. I know these comments, will be responed to by someone at Aipusen, and they will give any and all excuses in the book as to the things I have mentioned, the bottom line is . If you work for Aipusen, you will not enjoy your job, be treated unfairly, and often have to do things because you'll get fined. If you are an experienced, qualified teacher that is looking for a reputable position, you would not, and will not stand for this type of treatment. Yours Sincerely, A teacher who knows better |
