| A Word to Female Foreign Teachers | ||
| Now I don't know much about other female's experiences with this, let alone other female foreigners in my city. But I think there is a definite difference in experiences that female and male foreign teachers have in China. From my own experience it's like this: -Expect to feel a little lonely in China unless you have other female foreigner friends in your school or city. The reason for this being: A male foreigner will have usually have no problem finding other male foreigners to party and hang out with( as it seems the ratio is 10:1 male to female laowai) They will also have usually no problem finding a chinese partner, girlfriend or numerous girlfriends. Now the female foreigner will usually find that their male co-workers usually have a preference for asian woman as they think they are( I'm making my own conclusions) more passive, naieve, and easily impressed with their status as Foreign Expert. So that leaves you with Chinese men(which I find are actually quite handsome). But most chinese men will either think you are a "bad girl", with no possible future together or: - Think you are easy to bed( Thank you Hollywood) - Actually have steady girlfriends but will make you think they are interested only wanting free English lesson - Or that's it. I know that sounds a little bleak to all you single foreign ladies in China, but that's what I've noticed after being in China for a year. I'm sure there are probly decent foreign guys out there, but I have yet to meet one. I seem to keep on meeting the ones that think China is a place to let go of all morals, go to class hung over everyday and take advantage of nieve, chinese girls looking for love.
