British Council
Be careful before you sign up for this so called once in a lifetime experience. On the face of it, it looks like you will be looked after and treated with respect. The truth is you will be working for a pitance. Asked to work extra hours, sometimes without pay and at the end of your contract you won't even get a thank you for flying the
George cross. Once you settle into your routine and find yourself a friendly drinking hole you will find out that you are the lowest paid teacher in town. Any problems that arise will be swept under the carpet and you will leave with a feeling of being used. Don't believe the council when they assure you of good accomodation. The reality is that you will live in some pokey hole no better than a bedsit, which gets freezing in winter because the schools will not provide heating. If you find yourself unhappy with your deal, just leave. The contract you sign isn't worth a s--t. Go and find a school yourself and instead of the 3400rmb a month you can expect a tidy 8000rmb.
