Be Cautious of Wanjie Zhaoyang School
Wanjie Zhaoyang School is not a bad place to teach, but please exercise caution when thinking of accepting a job there! This may be true of other schools in China too, but the staff AND management of this school lied to my wife and I (and addmitted to it!) about pretty much everything regarding our jobs. This went as far as our contact writing emails to us supposedly from foreign teachers who were at the school while we were deciding whether to take the job or not. We found this out only a month or so after we started working there… management had told her (Smile) to write the emails and pretend to be those teachers because they didn't want the foreign teachers to say anything bad about the school.
The lesson learned; make sure you get your SPECIFIC contract mailed to you and signed before booking tickets or anything. The copy they fax you to sign is neither legal nor complete, and they will ask you to sign an entirely different one when you arrive. Also, be sure to get EVERYTHING you want and are promised written into the contract. 20 hours max. per week doesn't mean that to them, it means 20 classes, PLUS 2 office hours a day, English corner, and lots of prep time due to a lack of cirriculum and proper materials. It works out to more like 40 hours per week this way! One final thing, get something in the contract about make-up classes for holidays. They'll give you holidays but expect you to make up the classes missed by working on weekends afterwards. If you can't get them to give you a contract saying you don't have to do these, at least try for extra pay for these classes or something.

Any questions feel free to email me… put "Wanjie Zhaoyang School" in the subject line. Best wishes!
