Yakup international
Hi all, I like to get as much information as possible about Yakup International and have read some of the postings. I have been dealing them to get a position in China but want to know more about them. What they are like, how to they work, are they good or bad. Any comments & suggestions about teaching in China will be greatly appreciated too.
Thanks in advance.

deal with schools directly

me [2004-04-19, 21:26:00][ID: 486-3251] I am looking to go to China but not with Yakup International. All I have read has been rotten! I hear they have changed their name to "China Talent" because they are so dirty. Make sure you are careful and post if you hear of a good school.

Not Yakup [2004-05-23, 04:55:00][ID: 486-3652] Yakup is a liar, a cheat, and a thoroughly disreputable human being - not even sure that he is Chinese - it is possible he is a Uygher, but then that would be insulting Uygers.
Don′t touch him or his company.

TM [2004-08-15, 06:54:00][ID: 486-4893] Teaching in China has provided me with equal job opportunities and challenges for career growth and development while working in a dynamic, exciting, and fast-growing City of Shijiazhuang. I have been employed as an ESL teacher for one and a half years in this city. In that span of time, I have enjoyed visiting places around China during my free time. Chinese people treated me so well and their hospitality is far beyond compare..

Batingal [2004-09-26, 06:54:00][ID: 486-5344] I was wondering if the people commenting on Yakup had any more specific problems with them than the very vague and not very helpful ones that were posted before?

Hayley [2004-11-29, 19:56:00][ID: 486-5804] I have used Yakup International to teach in China and have found his company and the placement to be very wonderful. I am not sure what happened with these applicants but I can say for myself that I have had no problems whatesoever and would recommend them to anyone.

April United States [2004-11-30, 13:17:00][ID: 486-5809] Beware of recruitment from Yakup Int′l and any contract that is mentioned. In my experience the contract is generally not honored by the school(s) you are sent to. Yakup pretends to fight for you but it almost never works out the way it is explained to you. His office is an apartment room, not an office. His staff are mostly students and most did not speak English. The 4-star hotels, etc, he promises may appear to be true at first but don′t be deceived; even for China, the hotel he will put you up in is not considered 4-star by their standards. This all took place three years ago. However, after reading recent posts of others about Yakup it sounds nothing has changed, or things have actually changed for the worse. I highly doubt he has the academic credentials he claims. If I were you I would pursue a more formal route of recruitment; something like CET which is apparently similar to JET, and/or check recruiters at colleges that are legit, and/or check Chinese consulate/embassy in your home country and ask about programs.

The Chinese schools want to accommodate you but in my experience (especially in the rural areas) they do not know about the standard of living westerners are accustomed to and basically try to subject you to their standards which are often very substandard and dangerous for nonaccustomed westerners. So patience is a must and some compromise is a necessity. Be very careful of your drinking water and source of fresh vegetables, fruits, and meat. Wash thoroughly and cook thoroughly. Avoid any non-bottled water. Avoid sick teachers/students/people. Some web research will show that diseases that have been pretty much eradicated in the west are almost commonplace and not considered serious; such as whooping cough. Lastly, be sure to register with your home country embassy so they know where you are.

All_mustgo@hotmail.c [2005-01-09, 14:01:00][ID: 486-5974] My Testimony and Warning

I joined Yakup International Co. Ltd. In 2002 as a part time recruitment staff (because I have been working as a full time teacher for almost two years at different schools in China) and since then I have already recruited 74 ESL teachers for Yakup.

From my regular contact with those whom I recruited initially and then placed by Yakup in Beijing, I knew each one of them being truly happy with all the arrangement of Yakup, what the schools provided, and location, etc. Therefore I have just received very satisfactory comments on both Yakup and the host schools from all those 74 ESL teachers whom I recruited, and there is no any single complaint so far.

Additionally, I have never traveled to Beijing, and met Yakup and his staffs personally so far (as I have been working in Yunnan, Guangzhou, and Hunan since my arrival in China), so my contact with Yakup in Beijing are always just through telephone and email. But I received my commission in full and on time from Yakup according to the contract.

From my own experience with Yakup, I would be very pleased to conclude that Yakup is one of the most honorable and reliable company in China.

But I knew some of the people who are always spreading negative remarks and slanders about Yakup and Yakup International on the internet are actually non exist by those names as they always using fake names with false email address. I also knew from Yakup that all those people who are spreading rumors about Yakup on the internet were actually previous foreign employees (either part time or full time) of Yakup, and later fired by Yakup because of their wrong doings and dishonesty.

I must have to warn those worse quality of people who are always with false name and false email address on the internet to stop spreading your fabrication and rumor against Yakup International. If you really have a true complain about Yakup as you described on the internet, then please just go to Court of Law or Police Station in your location immediately with your true identity (with you true name, true passport, true address and contact numbers). Under Chinese law, cheating of employees by employer and non-payment of salary to employees, or causing damages to other by cheating are all criminal offence and subject to tough punishment.

But you always dare not go to a Court of Law or Police Station in China with your complaints. Who stopped you from doing so? Are you really disabled with a wheelchair or afraid of Court of Law and Police in China?
