A Rewarding Teaching Experience
I had a very rewarding teaching experience in Shijiazhuang University of Economics. I was tasked to teach Oral English to English majors. The students were very responsive and very diligent in their studies.

At first I thought, my students were making fun of me. They were laughing at the way I pronounced some of their classmates' names. I stopped calling the roll, and without showing any sign of annoyance, I asked them why they were laughing. One very confident and daring female student told me that my pronunciation of their names sounds strange. I just smiled and asked them nicely how to pronounce their names correctly. They taught me and I listened attentively. The next meeting, they no longer laughed; I saw them nodding their heads at every name I read.

The administration gave me complete autonomy how I would conduct my classes. The accommodation was very good. To ensure that my condition and my convenience were alright, the secretary (Ms. Wang Ni) of my immediate boss (Prof. Lei Shihe), always paid me visits in my apartment and would ask me if there are other things that I need.

I consider myself very fortunate to be sent to China as an Exchange Professor of English. I learned many valuable things that contributed to improving my teaching craft.

Most of all, my dream of seeing and visiting The Great Wall of China became a reality.
